Adult Literacy Programme

Buddha PG College runs an Adult Literacy Programme targeting uneducated and semi-literate adults in the college-adopted village. The programme is coordinated by the Department of Education in partnership with the NSS unit.

Student volunteers conduct evening literacy classes three days a week, teaching basic reading, writing, and arithmetic to adult beneficiaries. Special attention is given to women and senior citizens who were deprived of formal education in their childhood.

Programme Highlights

  • Over 200 adult beneficiaries enrolled since the inception of the programme.
  • Functional literacy achieved by more than 60% of enrolled participants.
  • Teaching materials prepared and printed by the college at no cost to participants.
  • Monthly assessments conducted to track learning progress.

This programme aligns with the National Education Policy 2020 goals of universal literacy and demonstrates the college dedication to community upliftment beyond academic boundaries.
